  • RHS – State Report card moved to three stars.

  • Viking Leadership Academy received Honor Unit with Distinction. Each Cadet earned a nomination to our service academies. Our JROTC program is the only accredited leadership education curriculum recognized by RIDE. The leadership curriculum is also accredited nationally by AdvancED, the parent organization of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CAS)I.

  • SkillsUSA National Competition – 7th in Commercial Baking; (2) students placed 10th in Cybersecurity.

  • National French Contest Winners – sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French; (1) Gold, (1) Silver, (1) Honorable Mention

  • Robotics – Team Odin – 3 rd place at 2019 SeaPerch Challenge at University of Maryland. Competed against 199 teams from across the globe.

  • Robotics – 5 th consecutive year, wonder Southeastern Regional event and invited to 2019 International Challenge.

  • Army JROTC students won RI State Championship, All Services Division – CyberPatriot 2018-2019.

  • P-Tech – SkillsUSA winners in Cybersecurity (Gold and Silver), Commercial Baking (Gold), Technical Computer Applications (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) , Restaurant Service (Bronze), Web Design (Gold, Silver and Bronze)

  • National History Day – 12 students represented RHS and RI at the National Competition in the following categories: Historical Paper, Individual Website, Individual Exhibit, Group Exhibit and Group Documentary

  • NEASC Accreditation – Career + Technical Education Center (only 2 in state of RI)

  • National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) Award for Aspirations in Computing (Eliza Taylor, Cynthia Rodrigues, Emma Daigneault, Leslie Ortiz)

  • SkillsUSA National Signing Day sponsored by Klein Tools- NACTC Carpentry student Niall Walsh hired by Kirby Perkins

  • Teacher Kelly Golden, nominated for 2019-2020 National LifeChanger of the Year award sponsored by the National Life Group Foundation for K-12 educators and district employees making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive attitude and leadership.

  • SkillsUSA – RHS student was a Silver Medalist at 2018 National Championship in Technical Computer Applications Rhode Island competition – SkillsUSA – RI Teacher of the Year; Gold Medals in Web Design, Technical Computer Applications; Silver Medals in Technical Computer Applications, Extemporaneous Speaking; Bronze Medals in Web Design, Technical Computer Applications, Restaurant Service, Commercial Baking

  • Robotics – attended SeaPerch National competition. Won the first ever Sportsmanship Award, 2nd Place in Towers Challenge and 3rd Place on Obstacle Course.

  • All-State Orchestra – two RHS students participated (violinist and cellist); RHS teacher managed senior All-State Orchestra

  • SkillsUSA – eight NACTC students earned medals. Technical Computer Applications (gold and silver); Web Design- teams of two (gold, silver, bronze)

  • Robotics – Open Class team placed first and High School Class team tied for first place at Regional competition and advanced to the National competition in Spring.
